Whether you’re receiving an organ, giving one, or are a family member of a patient, you need support. The most helpful way to receive it is by talking to someone who has gone through the whole transplant process.
Our Find a Buddy program lets living organ donors and organ donor recipients pair up with a friendly, carefully matched buddy who understands what they’re going through, because they’ve been there! A buddy can help you talk through your feelings, concerns, and questions so you feel supported and understood. My point here is you my dear one are the one who directed me to that path. I will forever remember that. It inspires me to go forth now. As I wait to grow stronger I know my work is not done. My journey to help others through guidance and share my story.
About a month before my liver donation I was fortunate to attend an event hosted by Transplant Village. At that event I was able to talk with other people that were either going through or have gone through the same things as me. It was so refreshing to meet people that really understood what I was going through.
